Thank you from Balbriggan/North County Dublin Branch of Guide Dogs

Balbriggan/North county Dublin branch of guide dogs wish to thank all who supported us throughout 2018 and especially in the run up to Christmas.  The transition year Students of Loreto Secondary school took some cards and calendars plus some of our toy dogs into the canteen to sell before Christmas. They raised €275.60 for us. The pictures attached shows some of the students with guide dog Gatsby with his owner tom O’Neill who was saying thanks to the girls

Our branch was delighted to be a participant in The Tesco Community Initiative before xmas and the picture shows Tom O’Neill with his guide dog Gatsby accepting a cheque for €555 from Lisa McEvoy and Cheryl Floody of Tesco. Thank you to all of you who put the blue chips into the container at the customer services desk and in this case the phrase is so true “Every little helps”

Christmas is about children and Santa Clause. So once again Brian Brodigan and Elaine Richardson of Specsavers Opticians and Hear Care Center Millfield Shopping center Balbriggan made sure that the children of Balbriggan had an opportunity to meet the great man in Millfield. They set up with the support of Peter Carey, General Manager of Millfield Shopping center a Santa Grotto. Each family who went to meet Santa made a donation and all that money went to Balbriggan/North County Dublin Branch of Guide Dogs. The total raised at the Santa Grotto was €1,293.73

Several businesses in Balbriggan such as Pat Baxter butcher, Clonard street, Chiropodist Donal Hayes and associates, E-Cigs Drogheda street, Cuddles pet store Millfield plus St Teresa’s and St Molaga’s N.S. sold our cards and calendars as well. Thank you to those businesses and to you for supporting these local business and guide dogs.

All Money raised goes straight into head office of guide dogs cork www.guidedogs.ie to train more guide dogs for blind people and more assistance dogs for children with Autism.

Everybody who is involved in our fundraising events are total volunteers so everything we raise goes into the training of the dogs. We would love some more volunteers especially somebody that would have access to a van or car to drop and pick up stuff for us. Nobody who offers to volunteer is ever turned down.
