The Jack Kennedy Cup, Glebe North, BalbrigganJuly 30, 2013 ADMIN 0
The Jack Kennedy Cup U 16 tournament returned to Glebe North FC on Saturday 27th July for the 2nd year running. Glebe turned out two sides this year and kicked off the tournament with serious local bragging rights at stake. The Green ‘B’ side just edging out their Red counterparts 2-0, with fine goals from Dean Moore and Emmanuel Santos.
The stage was set for an explosive encounter between last year’s winners, the ever impressive St Kevin’s Boys and a much improved Home Farm outfit, in what proved to be the decisive game of the day. The Farm just edged it 1-0, leaving Kevin’s a lot to do. They duly obliged, rattling in 8 goals in two games against Glebe, with Golden Boot winner Ross Nally bagging three. It proved fruitless however as Home Farm went on to win both remaining games to lift the cup, with Kyle Coyle shining and taking home the Player of the Tournament trophy.
The tournament provided some excellent passing football from all sides and a look at a few possible stars of the future.
