YouthBank Fingal committee give out first grants to winning teams

YouthBank Fingal committee gave out their first grants to winning teams, on the morning of Friday 8th March 2019. It was very interesting and exciting moments to see young people interview other young people and make the decision to or not fund a project. Eight projects came forward – three got funded, some did not make the interview, young people of YBF were very accommodating.

The Dublin 15 project was very interesting; it challenged the young people’s priorities, but the project won on grounds of inclusivity.  Young people get to know and understand Autism and effects (Big learning). The team have posted cheque to the group but will follow up with a visit soon.

We look forward to the outcomes of projects:

  1. BYR Clean up our town – working with Tidy town & Men’s shed will clean up, plant flowers and bins around the railway station in Balbriggan.
  2. Colaiste Ghlor na Mara Musical stage – Will put up Irish drama to showcase Irish talent inclusive to the general public in their school.
  3. Little Seeds Arch Club Ongar – teaches cooking skills to autistic children.

We are not leaving teams on their own, we provided supportive training on managing their project and grant (on 1st March 2019) with a commitment to ongoing support and visits.
